Job Requirements
  • Ability to work independently
  • Previous supervisory experience (ability to train, motivate and respectfully lead a group of volunteers/staff.)
  • Previous program management knowledge (basic statistical methods, fiscal/budgeting practices and procedures, knowledge of local, state and federal workplace regulations)
  • Excellent evaluation and assessment skills in areas of animal health, behavior and human/animal bond
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to effectively work with the public and as part of a cohesive team
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to multi-task amidst constant interruptions
  • Maintain friendly/positive/professional demeanor in a fast-paced and demanding work environment
  • Bachelor's Degree, Registered Vet Tech or equivalent work experience of 5+ years required

  • Job Description Operational Responsibilities:
    • Work with the HSCA Executive Director in developing, interpreting, implementing and updating clinic policies and procedures
    • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with other community agencies, organizations, vendors, veterinarians and their staff
    • Participate in speaking engagements to promote the clinic
    • Interact professionally iwth all clients, volunteers, visitors and staff
    • Oversee all aspects of general office coordination
    • Receive donations and daily revenue, reconcile and prepare regular bank deposits, manage clinical database generating appropriate statements, receipts, etc.
    • Ensure that bills/invoices are paid timely and accurately
    • Manage the clinic's computer system and software programs ensuring all information is entered timely and accurately
    • Monitor revenue and expenses in relaiton to annual Budget
    • Negotiate with vendors as necessary
    • Create, implement, and regularly review programs and protocols that contribute to a high standard of customer service as well as safety and well-being of hte clinic patients, volunteers/staff
    • Oversee all inventories and ordering of clinic supplies, equipment, assuring that appropriate quantities are maintained at all times
    • Supervise daily operations of volunteers/staff and effectively handle any concerns
    • Partner with HSCA Executive Director on marketing, fundraising, and public relations efforts
    • Stay up-to-date on current animal welfare issues as well as the changing needs of the community and submit periodic analysis, recommendations, and ideas for development

    • Clinical Responsibilities
      • Recruit, negotiate and cultivate contractual relationships with veterinarians
      • Demonstrate a basic knowledge and understanding of cat and dog characterisitics, behaviors and general health issues
      • Perform daily inspection of the clinic to ensure productivity, animals are cared for properly, and the clinic is maintained at a high degree of sanitary conditions
      • With the veterinarians to implement effective disease prevention protocols for the clinic
      • Schedule all surgeries appropriately to ensure that time and scheduling requirements of the veterinarians are met
      • Check-in and release surgical clients
      • Assist veterinarians with physical exams, preparing vaccines and appropriate medications that will be needed for the surgical procedures, administering medications, fluids, blood-draws, taking temperatures, microchipping, surgical preparation, procedure and monitoring the recovery of surgical patients
      • Set up post-surgery medications as prescribed by the veterinarians and prepare all appropriate paperwork related to the procedure
      • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the clinic operations, such as clients, volunteers, staff, donors, veterinarians, etc.
