The Humane Society Calumet Area is proud to offer Humane Education programs to schools, Scout Troops and Youth Groups in the Northwest Indiana and Eastern Illinois areas. Our Humane Education program reached over 5,000 kids in 2008.

Topics children learn about include:

• Responsible Pet Ownership
• Power of Compassion & Abuse Prevention
• Dog Bite Prevention
• Private Shelter Tours (for programs held at the shelter)

These programs are free and can be customized to meet lesson plans or badge criteria. Programs are usually one hour in length and include an 18 minute video. Customized activity packets for children and parents are provided which reinforces lessons learned during the presentation.
