Scooter arrived at the HSCA in November 2008 scared and injured. His back was broken and while a local vet recommended he be euthanized, the staff at the HSCA saw something special in Scooter. They saw a fire and will to live in him that could not be ignored.
He was soon sent to TOPS Veterinary Rehab in Grayslake, IL where he received intensive physical therapy, acupuncture, and water therapy. While they were unable to restore his ability to walk, he became stronger and more mobile. He was fitted with a custom wheelchair with a personalized license plate.
Traveler's Fund donations made Scooter's costly treatment possible. His wheelchair alone cost several hundred dollars. We would not be able to help animals like Scooter without the generous donations made to Traveler's Fund.
Scooter is as full of vigor as ever and is currently seeking a permanent home that can provide the exercise and special care he requires. Potential adopters must attend an adoption interview with the Executive Director.
